The south-east Asian country of Laos is bullish on wind energy as it seeks to add to the country’s sustainability and strengthen the power export portfolio. In the latest development, the Laos Government and energy firms are looking to invest more than $2 billion for the development of wind energy of 1.2 GW in Lako area, Sepon District, Savannakhet Province. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative of Thailand has announced plans to install solar power panels on at least one million of farms as a pilot project. With this move, the Ministry is targeting to reduce electricity bills of farmers by 20-30 per cent in next 15-20 years. It has a 1.5 GW Monocrystalline PERC Cell & Module Manufacturing capacity. NovaWind JSC and representatives of An Xuan Energy JSC have signed an agreement on cooperation in the implementation of a project for the construction of a wind farm. Danish utility and global offshore wind leader Ørsted has declared that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vietnamese energy contractor PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C). This partnership will pave the way for a collaboration for the development of offshore wind projects in Vietnam and globally between the two companies. Real estate solutions provider KCN Vietnam and leading French multinational TotalEnergies have entered into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Both parties have agreed that TotalEnergies would be the exclusive solar energy provider on the rooftops of KCN Vietnam properties. Ltd yesterday announced its first investment in Southeast Asia, with the aim to produce 3GW of high-efficiency photovoltaic modules to meet growing global demand. The company is expanding its global footprint by opening its latest production base in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, Malaysia, in response to the strong support and facilitation provided by the government.
