Basic Energy Corporation and Japan’s Renova have announced a collaboration for the development of the Mabini Wind Energy Project in the Philippines, with a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW). This partnership was finalisedĀ through a memorandum of understanding signifying the initial and definitive step towards a Joint Development and Shareholders Agreement between Basic Energy’s subsidiary, Mabini Energy Corporation, and Renova.
The Mabini Wind Energy Project, covered by the Wind Energy Service Contract granted by the Philippines’ Department of Energy in 2021, indicates a major step towards advancing renewable energy initiatives in the region. This project aims to harness the abundant wind resources in the area to contribute to the country’s growing clean energy portfolio.
The signing of the subsequent Joint Development and Shareholders Agreement is anticipated by the end of the first quarter of 2024, signifying a commitment from both parties to move forward with the project’s development. This agreement will formalise the partnership and outline the roles and responsibilities of each party in the project’s execution.
Basic Energy’s strategic collaboration with Renova shows its dedication to expanding its presence in renewable energy in the Philippines. Besides, this initiative aligns with the country’s objectives to diversify its energy mix and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, in line with global sustainability goals.
