Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has entered into a corporate power purchase agreement for its Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm. The agreement was signed with Sino American Silicon Products Inc. and its renewable energy unit Sustainable Energy Solution.
The Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm is located 35 kilometers off the coast of Taichung City, Taiwan. The project will feature 33 wind turbines with a total capacity of 500 megawatts. The wind farm is expected to be completed by late 2027. Once operational, the Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm will supply green
power to Taiwanese companies.
The power purchase agreement is a long-term contract that ensures a stable revenue stream for the project. The company’s flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V, is focused on investing in renewable energy projects around the world. The Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm is one of several projects that CIP is
currently developing in Taiwan.
The Taiwanese government has implemented policies to support the development of offshore wind power, including the creation of a feed-in tariff scheme and the allocation of grid connection capacity.
Recent renewable energy projects in Taiwan include the Formosa 1 Offshore Wind Farm, which was completed in 2019 and has a capacity of 128 megawatts.
The Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm, which is currently under construction, will have a capacity of 376 megawatts and is expected to be completed by 2023. The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm, which is also under construction, will have a capacity of 640 megawatts and is expected to be completed by 2023.
In addition to the Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Farm, CIP is developing several other renewable energy projects in Taiwan. These projects include the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms, which are also located off the coast of Taiwan.
