Eastern Pacific Industrial Corp Bhd (EPIC) is set to mark its presence in Malaysia’s solar energy sector through its subsidiary, EPIC Solar Sdn Bhd (ESSB), aiming to contribute significantly to the country’s renewable energy targets.
Dr. Mamad Puteh, chairman of ESSB, revealed that the company’s expansion plans are aligned with Malaysia’s ambitious goal of achieving 40% renewable energy usage by 2035. Highlighting their proactive approach, Dr. Mamad emphasized ESSB’s role as a pioneer in solar projects on the East Coast.
A major milestone in ESSB’s efforts is the inauguration of a sprawling 28-hectare solar farm in Teluk Kalong, Terengganu. This solar farm boasts a capacity of up to 18.5 megawatts (MW) and is poised to become a crucial contributor to Malaysia’s renewable energy grid. Dr. Mamad underscored that the Teluk Kalong facility is designed to supply solar energy directly to Tenaga Nasional Bhd via the national grid for a substantial period of 21 years, extending through to 2039.
The strategic location of the Teluk Kalong solar farm not only enhances regional energy security but also signifies EPIC’s commitment to sustainability and technological advancement in the region. By leveraging solar energy, EPIC aims to reduce carbon footprints and bolster environmental stewardship in Malaysia.
EPIC’s ambitious plans underscore its dedication to pioneering renewable energy solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable. The expansion of ESSB’s service network marks a significant step towards achieving Malaysia’s renewable energy goals, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for the nation.
