Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation has achieved a significant milestone in Japan’s renewable energy landscape with the successful commencement of operations at the Kabaoka Wind Farm.
The project is located in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. This wind farm is developed by the group subsidiary Dohoku Wind Farm LLC, boasts a capacity of 42 megawatts (MW). The project, which officially began operations on February 5, 2024, represents a pivotal addition to the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, augmenting a series of successful wind farms including Hamasato, Kawaminami, and Kawanishi.
Its feature includes ten wind turbines, each with an impressive output of 4.2 MW and it is expected that the Kabaoka Wind Farm is poised to make a substantial impact on the region’s energy landscape. By channeling its generated power into the Hokkaido Electric Power Network Inc., it is projected to supply clean electricity to approximately 31,000 average households.
It is anticipated that it will help reduce emissions by an estimated 47,000 tonnes per year. This dual achievement of providing sustainable energy solutions while curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, of which the Kabaoka Wind Farm is a pivotal component, signifies region’s commitment to harnessing its abundant wind resources for sustainable development. With a total of 107 wind turbines spread across six wind farms in northern Hokkaido, this initiative relies on the area’s favorable wind conditions to boost Japan’s renewable energy capacity. Moreover, it aligns with global objectives to combat climate change and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
As per the firm, the Kabaoka Wind Farm represents a commendable achievement in the realm of renewable energy. This exhibits innovative technology and strategic location of Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation in clean energy portfolio and also marks its contribution to the realisation of a more sustainable future for Japan.
