Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) has announced the inauguration of its 1.056 MW rooftop solar power project in partnership with Skye Renewables. This collaboration with Skye Renewables, now entering its operational phase at HPI’s manufacturing plant in Tanauan, Batangas, marks a crucial step towards achieving the company’s global carbon neutrality goal by 2050, stated Honda in a statement.
On partnership with Skye Renewables, President of Honda Philippines, Inc., Sayaka Arai-Hattori, emphasised the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, stating, “We are not just a company that manufactures and sells products; we strive to be a positive force for society.” She added, “This project embodies our commitment to environmental responsibility and demonstrates our dedication to inspiring a more sustainable future for both our employees and customers.”
Gary Espino, Head of Philippines for Skye Renewables, expressed delight in supporting HPI’s sustainability journey, highlighting the cost-saving benefits of solar energy and its contribution to environmental sustainability. “This project is a testament to the power of collaboration, and we believe it paves the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future for all,” he added.
The Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) has now issued guidelines on the biofuel blend implementation in the country. As per the biofuel mandate of the South Asian country, the new norms mandate all diesel fuel distributors to ensure mandatory three percent biofuel blending compliance in 2024.
The country has also laid down time-bound blending parameters. “All diesel fuel distributed and sold by every oil company in the country shall contain biodiesel blend at three percent (3%) effective July 01, 2024, four percent (4%) effective July 01, 2025, and five percent (5%) effective July 01, 2026.”
