Envision Energy has partnered with ACEN, the renewable energy division of the Ayala Group, to deliver wind turbines for a major wind energy project in the Philippines. Known as Quezon North Wind, the project is currently the largest onshore wind energy initiative in the country.
The agreement involves Envision Energy supplying wind turbine generators with 150-meter towers. The first phase of the Quezon North Wind project will have an installed capacity of 344.5 MW. ACEN has also approved additional phases of the project, with a total planned capacity of 550 MW. The project spans two provinces, Laguna and Quezon. This project is the second collaboration between ACEN and Envision Energy. The companies previously worked together on the 600 MW Monsoon Wind Project in Laos, which is designed to export electricity to Vietnam.
The Philippines has been developing several wind energy projects to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix. Two of the country’s operational wind farms include the Bangui Bay Wind Farm, which has an installed capacity of 33 MW, and the Burgos Wind Farm, with a capacity of 150 MW. These projects are part of efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and meet the rising energy demand in the country.
Quezon North Wind is a step toward achieving the Philippines’ renewable energy targets. The project is expected to contribute clean energy to the national grid while also supporting the development of renewable energy infrastructure.
The government and private sector in the Philippines are working to increase investments in renewable energy, with wind playing a growing role alongside solar and geothermal energy. Large-scale projects like Quezon North Wind are part of this ongoing transition to sustainable energy sources.
