Solarvest Holdings Berhad, Malaysia’s largest clean energy firm, has secured a RM113 million Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contract from P Solar Sdn Bhd. This deal is part of the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP).
The contract involves developing a 45-megawatt peak (MWp) solar farm in Mukim Pekan, Pahang. Once completed by the end of 2025, the solar farm will generate approximately 57,500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy each year. This output will help offset around 36,800 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
The solar farm will cover 88 acres of repurposed coastal land. It will feature monsoon-resistant design elements and use high-quality panels and inverters. In the next phase, Solarvest and P Solar plan to integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems to boost the farm’s efficiency and reliability.
Tuan Haji Ahmad Puzi Bin ABD Wahab, Director of P Solar Sdn Bhd, expressed gratitude for the support from the State Government of Pahang and Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang. He highlighted that the project aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and will help corporate consumers meet their sustainability goals.
The renewable energy certificates (RECs) from this project will support companies in demonstrating their commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group CEO of Solarvest, noted the rising demand for RECs in Malaysia, driven by investments in sectors like data centers and semiconductors. He emphasized that the CGPP helps meet the country’s growing renewable energy needs, with an additional 12 gigawatts (GW) required by 2050 on top of the current 4 GW capacity.
Solarvest has previously assisted in bidding for around 443.4 MWp of CGPP projects and is exploring opportunities worth over RM714 million. The company is also considering new collaborations under the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) to further boost clean energy production.
With operations across seven Asia-Pacific countries, Solarvest has a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 1,200 MW. The company continues to expand into other clean energy areas, including hydrogen, battery storage, and low-carbon mobility.
