The world’s largest wheeled crane has completed its first assignment on a wind farm in Yingkou, Liaoning Province, China. Located at the Dashiqiao Xintai New Energy wind farm, Chinese heavy machinery manufacturer XCMG’s XCA3000 hoisted a 25-tonne, 312-foot-long (95-meter-long) blade to a wind turbine’s hub at a height of 351 feet (107 meters).
“The XCA3000 wheeled crane, designed specifically for erecting wind turbines, is 525 feet (160 meters) tall. It has a 3,000-tonne rated lifting capacity, can hoist 190 tonnes, and is able to install up to 10-megawatt (MW) wind turbines,” said the firm.
As per the state-owned company claims, the XCA3000 has set a record for the heaviest and highest lifting capacity for wheeled cranes.
XCMG said that the XCA3000 not only sets a record for the heaviest and highest lifting capacity among wheeled cranes but also significantly improves operational efficiency. The ability to install a 5 MW wind turbine nacelle weighing 135 tons within a 30-minute operational window is a testament to its performance.
This achievement by XCMG is said to be a step forward in the wind power industry, providing a more efficient way to harness wind energy and contributing to the global effort to transition to renewable energy sources.
