Nobuhiko Murakami, Chairman of the Toyota Tsusho Corporation Group, met with Prime Minister Kamel Madouri at the Government Palace in the Kasbah. During the meeting, Murakami expressed the Japanese group’s commitment to launching new renewable energy projects in Tunisia.
Murakami highlighted the support provided by Tunisian authorities, which has helped Toyota Tsusho develop its activities and successfully implement existing projects in the country. The upcoming renewable energy projects are part of the company’s plan to expand in the clean energy sector.
Prime Minister Kamel Madouri reaffirmed Tunisia’s objective to create a favorable investment climate for both domestic and international investors. He emphasized the importance of renewable energy as a key sector capable of ensuring energy independence for the country. He also stressed that renewable energy development aligns with sustainable development goals.
Toyota Tsusho has been actively involved in various sectors, including renewable energy, across the globe. Its projects in Tunisia will contribute to the country’s growing renewable energy capacity, which is crucial for economic growth and energy security.
A few projects undertaken by Toyota to promote renewable energy are, In Japan, with launch of prototype Prius equipped with solar panels that charge the car’s battery while it’s on the move, aiming to enhance energy efficiency and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.
Toyota was involved in creating the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town in Japan. Homes are equipped with solar panels, and energy management systems are used to monitor and optimize electricity usage. The Japanese tech mogul also installed wind turbines at its manufacturing plant in the UK . Furthermore in Long Beach, California, Japanese motor corp has developed a Tri-Gen facility that uses agricultural waste to generate electricity, water, and hydrogen. The facility is 100% renewable and provides energy for Toyota’s operations while also producing hydrogen for fuel-cell vehicles.
