The PetroVietNam Technical Service Corporation (PTSC) has put forth plans to establish a renewable energy centre in Ba Rịa – Vung Tàu Province, aiming to bolster Vietnam’s movement towards the realm of renewable energy.
According to Le Mạnh Cuong, Director-general of PTSC, since 2021, the corporation has diversified its focus to include offshore renewable energy as one of its key business domains. PTSC has attained and sustained most of the certifications for the oil, gas, and renewable energy services sector.
As per the firm, PTSC offers a wide array of services to the offshore renewable energy sector, with the exception of blades and turbines. In 2023, PTSC successfully completed the fabrication of two offshore wind power transformer station projects for clients in Taiwan (China), slated for handover in the first quarter of the current year. Furthermore, the corporation secured new contracts and received approximately US$1.5 billion for offshore wind power ventures in Taiwan and Europe.
Cuong emphasised PTSC’s proposal for the Government to establish a legal framework and policy mechanisms enabling the construction of a Renewable Energy Centre in Ba Rịa – Vung Tàu. This initiative aims to position Vietnam proactively within the offshore renewable energy service supply chain in the foreseeable future.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha appreciated PTSC’s achievements in the intricate design and manufacturing of offshore wind power equipment. citing it as a unique achievement. ” This endeavor signifies a pivotal step in Vietnam scientific and technological evolution, particularly in offshore wind power development,” noted he.
The Deputy Prime Minister pledged government, ministry, branch, corporation, and provincial support for PTSC’s proposal to establish a renewable energy centre. PTSC is set to draft a comprehensive project plan and roadmap for submission to the Government for further deliberation and exploration.
